For the advancement of eye research, education and care at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center at Fitzsimons/UC Health Eye Center.

In 1991 a joint venture between the Lions of Colorado and Wyoming committed $6 million to help build the Rocky Mountain Lions Eye Institute.  Through the vision and funding efforts of the Rocky Mountain Lions Eye Institute Foundation (“RMLEIF”), the Rocky Mountain Lions Eye Institute today stands as the pinnacle of Lions service to those with serious vision problems in the Rocky Mountain region.

In order for the Rocky Mountain Lions Eye Institute to meet the expanding need for patient services, ten clinical treatment units were furnished and equipped. In 2015 the expansion of facilities necessitated the purchase of specialized diagnostic equipment for new clinical treatment units. These clinical lanes and equipment are located on the new fourth floor.  They greatly expand the capability to detect and solve vision problems like retina damage/retinal cell death.   The Rocky Mountain Lions Eye Institute Foundation provided $ 1.3 million to furnish these units.

The Rocky Mountain Lions Eye Institute Foundation (“RMLEIF”) is a nonprofit 501 (c) (3) corporation governed by a Board of Trustees with elected representation from each district of the Lions of Colorado and Wyoming.   The Foundation works in collaboration with Lions Clubs throughout the two states to support its program and funding needs.
